Sadly, Catherine died on January 22, 2021. She was born in the Bronx to the late Anna Porcelli and Frank Brescia. Cathy was a proud and longtime resident of City Island. She was married to the late Anthony “Ambro" Ambrosini.
Catherine is survived by her loving daughter, Donna, and her daughter’s fiancé, Bentley. She is also survived by her sister, Thomasina Salzarulo (Brescia).
Unfortunately, Cathy lost her eyesight to diabetes in the ‘90s. Nevertheless, she loved and continued to work in the Empire State Building at the Empire Diamond Corporation until she was 80 years old. Strong and determined, she worked there for over 50 years.
There will be no wake for Catherine due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the concern for her family members. A funeral mass is scheduled for 11am on Wednesday, January 27, 2021. The mass will be held at St. Mary Star of The Sea Church on City Island Avenue. Interment will follow at the Pelham Cemetery in City Island.
In lieu of flowers a memorial donation may be made to the American Diabetes Association online at https://www.diabetes.org/donate/donate-memorial, by phone at 1-800-DIABETES (800-342-2383), or by mail at P.O. Box 7023 Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.

I can remember Aunt Cathy always having a smile on her face and a kind word to give. My fondest memories are of when we were young, driving from Long Island to city island for dinner. Food was always plentiful and delicious.! Oh what fun we had, all together. We all gathered for a family reunion about 15 years ago in lake George. It was so good to see her after many many years. She still had that sparkle in her eyes! May she Rest In Peace and know that she was loved by many.

Aunt Cathy was an amazing wife, mother, sister and Aunt. She had an extremely generous heart when it came to my mom and her Sister Tomasina and our family. We were blessed to have her living in the same building for over 55 years. Everynight on her way home from work she always stopped in even before going up to her apartment to take off her coat and see how our day was.
By working in NYC for over 5o years years she has a keen sense of fashion and loved her scarves. I think it rubbed off on me because I have over 60 of them myself and never leave the house without one. She and my mom loved animals. They fed stray cats, fed the birds bread and sang to them and always had a dog of their own. Her favorite was Coco an adorbale poodle. When we were growing up growing up she would take us to Pell Street beach where we enjoyed much sunshine, clamming and swimming with our friends. When I had children she alway had such love for them. She loved singing with them and looking at their latest artwork. She also made the most delicious broccoli rabe and loved her special touch of adding crushed red pepper to it. We will also have my Aunt very close to our hearts. Love Valerie, Artie, Sarah and Henry
